Changing Seasons
At the beginning of the year, I painted a series of miniature canvases. I thoroughly enjoyed the process so I wanted to have another go. I’m proud of the painterly marks that I’ve created in these two paintings, especially on such a small surface. To me, they match the strength and vitality of my larger artworks.
Here, I’ve captured all of the autumnal hues that are most prevalent with the changing of the seasons—yellows, pinks, greys and blacks. The first two encapsulate nature’s warmth (the fallen leaves and the glorious sunsets), whilst the latter remind me of its cool, muted tones (the seemingly endless overcast days and the premature night skies).
The split in the palette meant that I created these two paintings over several sittings. I filmed the first sitting for an Instagram Reel; view it here.
